We are cruising to the Bahamas and need input on the best service providers for both Internet and phone. Thanks

Where in the Bahamas? In the Abacos, Out Island Internet (Oii.net) provides service for daily weekly and monthly periods with decent coverage (some type of antena or amplifier would help in certain locations). For phone in Abacos (and throughout the Bahamas) buy an open band cell phone on amazon (the kind that takes a simm card). You can then buy a batelco sim card and prepaid minutes in the Bahamas. Go to the Batelco website for details on rates.

Re: Communication options us to bahamas

We bought a phone from batelco with wifi capabilities and used it in the bahamas. You just need an unlocked phone with internet capabilities. It was $30 a month for internet service if you were around a cell tower. It worked, but it was pretty slow. Gettting email and surfing sites was slow, uploading pictures was almost impossible. Still, it was great for getting what we needed, emails, weather and news.

I had a cell phone booster we plugged into the cigarette lighter which I think helped a lot. If we didn't have it, I think it would have been even slower.
