Carnival in Cartegena, Columbia

Has anyone ever been to the Carnaval Festival in Cartegena? I read that the main celebration is in Barranquilla, which is 1.5 hours away. I believe it is by Santa Marta, Columbia. Is this a safe area to anchor or dock? Any tips or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

En Cartagena, el Club de Pescas is safe. Club Nautico's docks are not in good condition. Haven't been to them but hear the islands off the coast are nice too.

No Barranquilla is not by Santa Marta. It's on the way. A couple hours from Cartagena. Accommodations are hard to come by during Carnaval.
El Prado has a great pool and I also like the Barranquilla Plaza. PM me if you want to know about B'quilla.
