Re: Boat Names...point of view

My Father's last boat was named "Biting Sow", he said he always wanted a boat named that, no other explanation was forthcoming.

Boney Fingers is good, a great conversation starter. Sort of like "Mad Dog Tip Truck."

And then there were some Brits, who named their boat "Cheshire", because they wanted people's smiles to linger after they themselves had left. [ref, the cheshire cat in "Alice in Wonderland."

Boat names should be short, easy to say and hear on the radio & easy to spell.

We are ROXY, after the admiral's mom.

Re: Boat Names...point of view

Given the preponderance of catamaran owners to keep their names to the feline reference, I'm surprised I've never seen a a catamaran named "wet pussy". Although crude and sexual in connotation I find it humorous. Perhaps I'm juvenile in my humor, but c'mon, it's a wet cat! Right?

Years ago in the marina that my father kept his boat, a boat belonging to an attorney was named "cunning linguist". Again crude but double entendre.

Re: Boat Names...point of view

I haven't seen them on boats but there is no reason you could not use them, on the registration plates of a Mercedes Benz car "4myego" and from a resturant "Thaimeup"

I just sold a boat for a client with the name of Cantagree. He said when it came time to name the boat he and his wife couldn't agree on a name.

Thought "Row VS Wade" was a pretty good dinghy name.

As we are shading over into the political:

A friend of mine sold his prosperous lumberyard, bought a glorious William Garden design and retired. His lifelong hobby theretofore had been to visit sundry churches from Miramichi to Vancouver Island and play the organs there. He was GOOD!

Name of boat: "Nunc Dimittis"

Bill Belichik's boat was named V Rings, because he had 5 Super Bowl rings. But then he won another this year, so now it is named VI Rings.

Our boat is named, MISTRESS.

We refer to the dinghy as, The Illegitimate Child.

Re: Boat Names...point of view

My husband and I met dancing. Through all the adventures and travels over the years, his comment is always "Did you ever think, just one f***ing dance would lead to all this?" So, when we bought our catamaran, we named her Just One Dance. The dinghy is named Tiny Dancer.

This one is from the TV series 'nip tuck'. One of the plastic surgeons named his 'boattox'.
Made me laugh out back then...
