Boat Gifts

What did you get your boat for Christmas this year?

I bought a small 400 WATT inverter for my boat. Yes, I'm a cheapskate but I heard no complaints. You?

Was hopping for a priviously owned aluminum mast, but I'm happy with epoxy.

Kinda reminds of my Father back in the 1970's - bought his 2nd wife a new ironing board (the old one was needing replacement anyway)......he still doesn't quite understand that was not a good present for a Xmas to the wife . That marriage didn't last either .

Re: Boat Gifts

My boat got a GoPro video camera. I'll be checking it out on a charter in the Spanish Virgins in a few weeks and hopefully it will never document me falling over board. Though I will be careful where I leave it on board. There are thieves who are not even part of the same species who can pinch them:

Re: Boat Gifts

Mine got a terrific older bicycle (folding, with 3 speeds -- don't faint, but I suppose it is time to join the new century having never owned a bike with more than one speed) and a portable handheld, floating too.

On order is a Maxsa 12 volt electric blanket. The specs say 4 amp draw and she runs for either 30 or 45 minutes. $25 on Amazon.

Also awaiting delivery of an Owl anchor light from Fiji. That's LATE (grr) but I'm guessing there are delays because of Christmas. I will say the first one I ordered was here almost immediately so I'm rather less-than-happy that this one is taking so much longer -- and it was interesting to have the first one postmarked the day BEFORE I'd ordered it. The time line is fun. They use stamps so I was able to pass those on to a young girl who had never heard of the island. Geography lesson! (Can you tell I taught mine at home?)

Happy Christmas!

NASA recording barometer, a cookie sheet that fits in the oven (yah!), some miscellaneous hardware, and a hat that makes the captain look good - if the captain looks good the boat looks good!
