Re: Bikers on Board ?
I also went for a ride today. A couple hundred miles of windy road with one of my bothers and a friend. It was too windy for a day sail, so might as well ride
My RK is at around 120,000 miles and still going strong. I think my clutch may be ready to grenade, but aside from that, all is well
Just curious, is anyone carrying a motorcycle on board while they cruise? I am planning to carry a bike, but am curious about thew hassles of registration and insurance.

Traded my 01 FLHT for an 09 FLTR the 01 had 240,000 on it. Three stators all on HD in the first year. A starter and finally a top end. Countless tires and light bulbs. Not too shabby in my humble opinion.

Re: Bikers on Board ?
Sadly, I'm selling my beloved Dyna Low Rider. I have been riding 42 years and have owned 42 bikes. In 2010 I rode 1200 miles. In 2011, 400 miles. It's time now. I will be looking for this pedal type soon.

Nearly bought one of those (off a Mate) - loved the engine , but just a couple of inches too tall for me to be totally comfortable .
Unfortunately my Triumph (900cc of Triple - the sound of rolling death ) didn't survive the winter well ......something else now on the "to do list" .

You should call Harley. That is probably a first.

You are living in the past. When the EVO came out in 1984 the bikes got extremely reliable. In February 2011 I and eight other HD's left Portland, OR and rode to Cabo San Lucas. 5000 miles round trip or 45,000 miles on Harleys that trip. We had three mechanical failures. All sidestand (kickstand) springs broken on Tope's (Huge friggen speed bumps)
They don't leak and they don't breakdown with normal maintenance.

Re: Bikers on Board ?
I love my Suzuki M109. I have about 15K miles on it and its still going strong. Here in Florida, the weather is perfect for both sailing and riding. Although the country around here is flat and not nearly as interesting as other parts of the US, the weather makes it still great.

Re: Bikers on Board ?
I have nothing against motorcycles, but I would like to see some effort to put some peer pressure on those bikers that feel it is necessary to install aftermarket straight pipes. The sound can be earspliting. I find it very inconsiderate.
