Mr B :
"Started riding Speedway when I was 15 with an AJS 500 single,"
"I started off racing Speedway Solo at 15, Hitting the fence was a real fear, You could be killed instantly, or be in Hospital for years, with the very real possibility of never walking again. Precautions there, Dont hit the Wall"
"These flattrakers had no brakes. We wore a steel shoe on our left foot and slid sideways around the turns. Great fun.."
Glad to see other sailors here from the dirt track oval! I raced Flat Track and Speedway here in Canada
in the 80's and 90's. Mr. B had CONCRETE walls on the Australian tracks! At least our Canada
tracks had thin plywood
, so they would just slow you down as you went through the wall! The BEST fences was when I raced in Sweden
, they had cushioned walls.
