Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
After reading the ads and reviews, I still have no idea what the subject matter is about.
I'm thinking the ships are some kind of metaphor or analogy, kind of like "Who moved my Cheese." isn't really about cheese.

Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
Stay out of there way...?
Picture is deceiving, not on a collision course, but the boat operator ( little boat) sure put a lot of trust in his engine. Gotta wonder what the ship captains think of us pleasure boaters, zooming around him like he can stop if need be.

AIS ... been a lifesaver for us .... especially when approaching Panama Canal! I really cannot understand cruisers who have not equipped their vessels with AIS

Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
I really enjoy seeing the large ships pass by. They are very impressive.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, and I see it's $255 new, which makes me think it's intended for commercial mariners. (Actually, now that I read a few more reviews, it's obviously a joke. Good one.)

Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
Big ships are deceiving, they are so big it is hard to judge their speed, they move really fast, usually 20+ knots for tankers. I try never to cross ahead of a tanker.

Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
Yep, I wouldn't want to cross in front of this guy even if my powerful big 5 hp 4 stroke is running smooth..............

Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
I have to admit I was initially sceptical about this book, but after plunking down $250 US for a copy, I'm now a True Believer!
Here's only one of the totally fool-proof techniques for avoiding big ships, heretofore only know by professional seamen like Boatman61, Atoll and goboatingnow, but now freely available to the rest of us swabs...

Thanks Hud. This diagram I am sure will save my life. It will certainly save me from spending $255 to buy the book.
After hearing about this book I don't know how I managed to travel so many years and thousands of miles at sea and managed to stay alive.

Re: Avoiding Huge Ships!
I clicked the link and it said that people who had read the page had also looked at: Flosted Flakes and Uranium Ore
makes me wonder
