Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

She resizes them to 600 before she puts them into photobucket and then the forum here resizes them when I post them in here. Don't know if that helps at all.

I give up...what's all that mean?!?

'resizing' is understandable (although I have no idea how to resize to 600?) and I have NO idea what 'photobucket' involves...

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

No idea. I only wrote down what she told me. The size is 600 x something or other. I guess if you wait a while somebody will come along and tell you properly how to do it. Don't give up, that is my job and you cannot have it. I am the best giverupperer in the world

PS. I am not at all good with computers either.

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Here are some pictures we took from our dink while exploring up the Manatee river from Bradenton, FL.

We have a Roseate Spoonbill, a Wood Stork with her young, a Cattle Egret, and a Great Egret in flight. Along with the sunset on the way home.

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

I am on to buy DSLR. Here is the choice:
Canon EOS 7D Mark II,
Canon EOS 70D,
Nikon D7100,
Pentax K-3,
Sony SLT-A77 II.

So what should be the pick?
The Sony is a translucent mirror camera, the viewfinder is not a pentaprism but electronic and so the camera is not really a reflex.
My present cameras are two Pentax Optio 33 Water Resistant with Pentax lens, his and her, ideal for sailing. I have also 3 film SLR’s, Asahi Pentax SV, Asahi Pentax K 1000 and a Ricoh (Pentax) KR-5 super II not much used these day.
For movies I have two Sony Handycam DCR with Zeiss lens so the video capacity of the new DSLR is not that important. I am still happy with the Optio for quick shoot but hope to improve panorama with a DSLR.

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Chala, you may wish to stay with Pentax if you have old but still perfectly good lenses. Also, I strongly believe it is important to hold the various cameras and get a feel for them. What feels best in your hand? If you've used Pentax for many years and then switch, you will likely find differences annoying. In my case all my Pentax gear was stolen & I replaced with Nikon. I still curse the bayonet mount on the Nikons as it is opposite the Pentax cameras I had used for decades.

As far as quality goes--that's like asking which boat is best!

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Sat view, it is where a compact is more handy.

For the forum Tech. It is now the third time that I try to download a 90 mb movie, Marquesas, each time after the down load is finished the system tell me that I should log in. When I log in the system tells me that I am all ready logged and should push the Back button, when I do that the download disappears. The broadband that I use, for a near 90 mb download, take about an hour. The third time I used the pop-up attachments, I included a photo that down-loaded in nearly no time, then I got a message to log in, what I did and the CF site crashed. Returning to the site and after logging in, I checked the attachments pop up and found the photo. Getting into the attachments box I was asked to log in again but could not find the movie (Marquesas) download.

I bought the Nikon with a AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR lens. My old lenses unfortunately, after so many years in the tropics, are growing gardens inside them.
First comparison test, same image, different colours. Obviously some home work required.

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

After about 18 or so years shooting pictures with a Canon Digital Rebel, I just purchased a Canon 7D. I had (4) EOS lenses and a Canon flash so switching brands didn't make sense to me.

B&H was offering the 7D with (4) 8GB CF cards, a nice Canon gadget bag and an instructional DVD for $999. While I would have loved to get the Mark II, I couldn't justify the extra $900. The gadget bag fits the camera, all my lenses and the flash with room for my point-and-shoot. The DVD is by Blue Crane and very well done. I've been learning things I never took the time to learn before.

I took the 7D on a trip to FL last week to see my SO. We looked at a few boats and I took about 300 pictures. Along with the camera, I bought a Lexar 32GB Pro CF card (1066x) and a glass screen protector made for the 7D. Though I'm just learning to use it, I love what I've seen so far. It's been taking pictures the Rebel can't hold a candle to. And I've got a long way to go before I'm taking advantage of all its features.

Many of the pictures are of the interior of the boats we were looking at and just by selecting Av I've been able to get quality pictures I never could with the Rebel. Plus the 7D has video. It's a bit strange using a camera as a video recorder but it's nice not to have to drag along another camera. The 7D isn't the latest and greatest but I'm happy.
