Looking for a replacement compact, thinking of selling the SLR and getting one of the high end compacts and a tough waterproof job. In my heart of hearts I know I'll use them more than the SLR.
The only way I would give up a 7D is for a 7DMk.2

What kind of lens do you have on it? I would suggest to put the affordable 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens on it and it becomes very compact while maintaining the ability to take great pictures! I use my iPhone for the other shots which works fine.

My picture today is a HDR shot I captured last summer in Kentucky; I used a 7D with 70-300L lens which is at 70mm here:

Thanks for the suggestion.

I generally use the EF 24-105mm. I rarely do any wildlife stuff these days but have various lenses up the EF300 and 1.4x converter.

Even with the lens that you suggest it hardly makes a pocket-able camera. Although it would be easier to carry somewhat unobtrusively in small backpack or cycle bag.

A negative for me too is that 40mm on the 7D is a little long for a "normal" or default lens.

It seems that I'll have difficulty selling my gear where I am now, Valdivia, Chile, so the subject is somewhat moot. Obtaining a relatively specialist lens will probably be difficult here too but I'll ask around.

I bought the gear I have in relatively flush times when I was in full employment and now that I am a boat bum I don't have so much spending stuff.

I like variety. A con 7d. A gopro and a waterproof simple camera. And my pat common. My iPhone.

Bloody tall indeed. Think how long the spines would be. Ouch!

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Rainy season has started so the cactus will soon be all green and bigger again

So here I got this nice picture of two Ani's:

But alas, my dear wife got an even better one and I think this is the best Groove-billed Ani picture I've ever seen

Thank you It is so big that I needed the fisheye to capture it!

Here's another picture I did with the 8-15L fisheye; check out the detail in the upper arches etc.:

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Ok, I need a little advice about cleaning my camera. Not sure how I got so much crap in the camera, I've been cropping out the pics to hide my shame :-)( see pic). We are in transit but just decided to stay 3 weeks in marathon. So, I could send it out to be cleaned..?
Anyone clean their cameras, or is it best to send them out?
Thanks,
Erika
