+1 on the thread Jedi. I feel your passion for macro, bugs are what I like to shoot also. I'm a Nikon guy because they're the best (not really), the best photographers shoot them (my mother had them), and they're glass is the best (mom's lenses are free to me, and free is best. Right?).
Seriously, I wanted a 5D (original) but wound up with Nikon because we are a Nikon family
. Learned to shoot on a D90 and have no regrets.
Now shoot with a D700, 24 2.8, 35 f2 (love), 50 1.4, 85 1.4 (did I mention I do primes?), 105 2.8 micro (fave. Bugs, dude). I usually bring just the 105 and the 35.
Also, kudos to the poster who wrote about megapixels, lenses, and light. Light is king.
Rebel brought up the G12, so here's my experience with it. Great images
(it's a Canon). Love the ability in a (sort of) compact for full manual control. Menu system makes my brain sad. Oh, and buggy software
on mine. Buggy, buggy, buggy. Mom has the S95, much better camera
Again, great thread!
