My guess is that they took stills and pieced them together. The 5D2 does not have an inbuilt timer for that, but it is an easy to get feature in a remote control. I am rubbish at video editing software but did manage to put together a time lapse video from stills quite quickly (for me).

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Hi guys, the answer about the timelapse at the beginning is that we speed it on the editing. the timelapse file is a heavy clip but Final cut manage well.
Cheers!

I will be looking forward to seeing move videos from you

I try to use Final Cut Express but just can't get my head around it (partly as I am too lazy to sit down and learn it) so I stick to stills and photoshop

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

I am done with photography. I still have the Hasselblad and the Fuji with the Phase One digiback. I bought in a tax auction the IP60 and sold the IP40 to an advanced amateur.

That is good enough for the one or two shots I make in a year.

I would like to have a good video camera, TV quality, Sony or JVC.

The Canon 5D2 is great for video. The TV series "24" is shot with it, which give you an idea of it's performance in professional hands

Time lapse is often done with still photography. You just quickly link the pics in a movie. Shooting them is done automatically with one of these:

Hmm.. I must go out for more pics as I'm running out of them Here's a great tailed crackle in Achiote, Costa Abacho, Panama:

ciao!

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

yeah, it is a little complicated at first, I am in this process. Spend one hour in you tube tutorials, for one transition kind of thing, but it slowly sinks in....
We'll put some stuff out there, hopefully getting better every time:-)

You guys are doing great! I need Youtube tutorials for about every processing technique I use

I like it to see a sailing / lifestyle blog with good quality pictures. Are you using Lightroom to deal with the workflow yet?

Here's a banana flower... I don't understand why you don't see it more often in pictures:

ciao!

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

hey Nick,
we don't use lightroom, actually I haven't studied the possibilities that offer lightroom yet. We use Aperture for the workflow and Photoshop for editing.
But I think we should invest some time in that field, pretty sure that our way is the most useful one.
nice banana flower

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Thanks terradugua, that's an awesome video. So that first shot on the beach is all stills that were put together?

I'll have to play around with that. I use Adobe Premiere for editing, but have all the other products that go with it so should be able to do it.

Hi Claudia,

Lightroom, Aperture; same thing, today Lightroom has a new version out and is King and next Aperture will beat that again. No need for you to switch.

I do 80% of editing with Lightroom and the rest with Photoshop CS5.1 and Photomatix Pro.

Re: Any Photographers with DSLR's Around ?

Hi Maytrix, thanks for the good words, glad you liked it!
the first time lapse was speeding up while editing. A long shot taken in the caribbean. it was a beautiful spot!
