Any Classic Car Enthusiasts on Board ?

This is one of my previous cars (not exactly this one, but looked the same).


I put a very rare 221ci engine in it, the original small-block-ford made in 1962, before it become a 260ci, then a 289ci, then 302ci.
Had the v8 look and sound, 6-cyl gas mileage, was my daily driver.

We are total car nuts. My husband restored a BMW 2002 back in the 90's, and then here is a pic of our last baby (which we just sold recently... downsizing!)

It is a 1973 Austin Mini...

But it was a total sleeper. My husband put a European Honda Civic SI VTEC motor in her...190 BHP. BRUTAL!!

We'd open up the throttle, and she roared.

To shoehorn the motor in there, he had to make a custom suspension, and we actually lowered the chassis onto the engine.

It's not the same, we had a 427, this clearly is a Hemi.

here's the back story.

I left for college 1975 in my 68 ram-air IV gto 400/375 hp factory. I did a couple of things and she purred at about 500hp. So I drove her from Seattle to Dallas to go to school. In Denton, North Texas State.

It was a big American Graffiti time. back then.

I met my partner, from Lake Dallas, who had a Candy red 57. We rat roded together, but we always felt at a loss to our friend with a 1962 Chev Convertible, is was a Corvair Monza 2+2 with an an olds tornado turned round, backed up by a 427 super.

Then one day Johns, uncle Carroll said ...I have the perfect project for ya.

My goat was an 11.32 bracket racer and John's 57 was an 11.20.

So we went to Carroll's, and he said here ya go. It was the same if not the same in the picture. We built a 427, with a 2 speed lenco, and blast blanket.

It took us a year to put the car together, the whole time we argued, No I'm driving, no I'm driving.

The first weekend we decided to do a bracket, and the winner would be the driver.

The second weekend, we were arguing, no you're going to be the driver, no you're going to be the driver.We both broke 9.5's for an average, but we couldn't do 9.25.

By the 4th weekend we sold the car, for just over a little loss. we were lucky.

When you say "Uncle Carroll" combined with you being from Texas, is that Mr. Shelby? Carroll was my inspiration for high power to weight ratio rides. I'm currently running a 427 sbc, 556 HP @ 5700 rpm in my 1790 lb 1923 Track-T street rod. With 386 HP it turned a 10.8 @ 132, calculator says this engine, good launch and traction permitting, should run a mid 9 second.

I started by pushing my finger on the govnor on a briggs&Stra.. minibike,

then a 25 merc punkinseed.

next a 62 348 tri-power.

Our first ride in the rail, was on Forest Lane Ave. No.Dallas...1976

We called it Saturday Night, Friday was date night, so no pink slips. We all had CB's and at least 20, 1/4 miles marked in a 20 mile radius.

The xmas tree was the hot girl of the night.

those were the days.

Aw yes, the air vane rpm governor on B&S, I just disconnected it. My first hot rod act.

Since the scalloped valve covers of the 348 makes people think it is a 409, the tri-power confirms it is a 348 because the 409 was never offered with 3 deuces.

Yep.

And I still have the tin cans to vacum-tune the trips.

man this is old, but it sure feels good.


The fastest I have ever been in control was a 225 cruise, and a 275mph=325 flat-out.

It was in my Mooney, a 1969 Super 21.

I financial scared myself and quit flying....that was about 1987.

well if my tractor wasn't impressive enough...
I found some my old pics, here is my street driven drag racer I built from scratch, a '63 Falcon Roadster.
It has a 506ci engine that I engineered from a 460 ford with non-ford internals.
I created molds and formed all the fiberglass body panels. That chrome rollbar is NHRA legal, not a show piece.

One of my current projects, the MGEO, a 71 MG Midget with Suzuki 1.0L engine.
How it looked when I acquired it, a stalled restoration project:



The hardtop under construction, chopped and raked.



Here is the custom fiberglass one piece tilt frontend, still in progress,
my modern take on the older bugeye model.



It has custom fiberglass suicide doors also.

You do like speed. 38' Cat, 506 cid '63 Ford Falcon, but I didn't know anything about the Ford 221 cid before the 260. That was a new one on me. I had a '63 Falcon, but a non-syncro 3 on the tree and 170 cid one barrel. This is it back when it was new.
