America's Cup Has Price Confusion with Private Boat Registration

I've decided to sail to Bermuda in june and see some of the cup. I thought, why not watch some races from on-board? So I look up private boat registration to get a spectator flag and find a flat $35 up to 39ft, then $15/ft for 40 and up... So, a 39ft boat costs $35, but 1 foot longer and it costs $600!!
They must mean $1.5/ft, i thought. So I emailed them... no, it is $15/ft they say.. duh, can't you read. That pretty much means I won't be watching from my 41ft boat... or maybe I'll just cut off an imaginary foot or 2 and get a flag for a 39ft boat..

Come on America's Cup Management, Just because I sail doesn't make me rich... Actually, i think sailing makes me poor and it's because BS like this!

That is pretty dumb. Are you sure they don't mean $15 per foot that is over the 40 foot mark? So your 41 footer would be $35 for the first 39 feet, plus $15 x 2 feet, for a total of $65. Still climbs pretty quickly, but is at least a little more reasonable...

Nope... I put my boat length in (41) and 1 ticket and 'add to cart' and it comes up with $615 total!

I'll be there with my "tiny" 31 footer so it looks like I'm being taken advantage of also.

Yet another reason to avoid the AC frenzy.

The boats are interesting technically, the hype nauseating, the costs astronomical and the crowds intimidating.

What's not to like?
