Addicted to the Interface!

Sure, I love sailing,- gliding along where the air meets the water, but I seem to be a sucker for all the interfaces. Water skiing, snow skiing, ice skaing, roller skating. Put it to music and I'm lost in the action. I just came back to my boat after three hours of roller skating. I was just wondering if this is true for many other sailors. Does the same attraction that thrills with the glide on the water transfer to slipping about on other interfaces? ...luge,.... ice boats ,.... ? 'doesn't seem to appeal with the motorized actvities. What do you think? I know I'm an addict!

Re: Addicted to the Interface!

Great topic starter!

I certainly enjoy the romantic parts of sailing, can appreciate time on the hook, a sunset, the fish when diving etc...

But I know what gets me into my hobbies are the technical challenges - flying, flying gliders, sailing, dirt bikes, sky diving.

Maybe that's why I have done the hobbies you suggest, roller skating, ice skating, skiing and water skiing but I never got hooked, maybe because I didn't see them as a problem to solve but rather a skill to master?

Luge and ice boats might be cool - lot's of technical there. If I ever get assigned to a desert or frozen wasteland I might take up land yachting or ice-boating. But I am actively trying to avoid either location...

Re: Addicted to the Interface!

I like golf and touring on my motorcycle. So kinda more the outdoor aspect, sun and wind connection with sailing.
