There are two boatyards in Cortez FL just at north end of Sarasota bay that do large cats

Someone else mentioned Gulf Marine Ways in Fort Myers Beach. I second that recommendation. They can handle your cat.

I just finished a refit there and they took great care of me. Ask for Sherry, she's the best. Number is 239-463-6166

Special thanks to Cotemar, that list is super helpful! 👍
Did you compile it yourself or come across it somewhere?

We have been putting the Cat Haul Out list together for years.

Just keep adding good Cat marinas when we see them.

Then I go into Active Captain and add it into the Haul-out section of each marina.

It takes a lot of time, but it helps a lot of CF Cat cruisers out.

His 69' mast will not fit under the Mantanzas bridge (65'). The southern route is not advisable with a 4+' draft.

Re: Wide Beam Haul Out on Florida West Coast

Just went with a friend to get a haul out at the new Bertram yard (formerly Lazzara yard) for 100 foot 21 beam motoryacht. I believe the travelift has 29 foot capable beam. Very accommodating. Contact Mike Schenk at mschenk@bertram.com for info. Tel. no. 941-545-5000. They are very much looking to expand all services. Easy deep water access. Good luck!

Re: Wide Beam Haul Out on Florida West Coast

We called NE Taylor and they said their lifting basin maxes out at 21' beam.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Re: Wide Beam Haul Out on Florida West Coast

Have you tried Bradenton Beach Marina at Cortez bridge? You can come in to there from the south end of Tampa Bay or the Gulf and it is on the ICW. Not sure of the width of the lift but email is dockmaster@bradentonbeachmarina.com and phone number is 941-778-2288.I had my 11 foot wide Hunter hauled last april and they are good people to work with, real helpful.Hope this helps.

Re: Wide Beam Haul Out on Florida West Coast

Whatever you do, stay away from Progressive Marine. The worst boatyard in St. Petersburg. Maybe even in the state. Anyhow, it's the worst boatyard I've encountered in 40 years of sailing.

The owner offers "bottom job specials" at a low price, then does a bait and switch once you're on the stands. He pressures you to get sandblasting and an epoxy barrier coat -- not actually needed unless you have bad blisters -- and slow walks you if you resist. He wants several thousand dollars extra for the work.

If you continue to resist, he hits you with a huge bill for sanding the bottom -- mine was $1,400 -- and piles on extra charges that were not part of the original estimate.

There are also complaints around the Internet and in marinas and sailing clubs about questionable work, inflated labor charges,, etc. My estimated $500 cutless bearing replacement on a Catalina 320 turned into an $1,800 job in the hands of his expert yard crew.

Word is getting around Tampa Bay about Progressive, but owners of large boats such as catamarans are stuck because he has the only Travel Lift in St. Pete big enough to haul them. Some owners of large boats are starting to go to Tampa to avoid having to do business with Progressive.

If you're considering Progressive, you can find complaints at activecaptain.com, Google, Yelp, ripoffreport.com and probably other web sites.

Re: Wide Beam Haul Out on Florida West Coast

Bob and Annie's Marine in St. James city is definitely a good call! The best on the east coast near Miami down to the keys is Miami Beach Marina. We have a few catamarans there and it's a great to starting point for our Miami yacht charters, being able to go down to the keys or up north.
