Re: What Is your Favorite Source For Locating & Researching Marinas?

Waterway Guide when no internet, Active Captain, and Cruisers Forum with internet.

Personally I think they should put them big blue signs, like on the interstate, out along the coast, that say, " Food, Gas, Lodgings" next exit

Re: What Is your Favorite Source For Locating & Researching Marinas?

My boat is currently in Massachusetts, where for most of us there is only a 6-month season. Though in the past I have lived aboard year-round, it can be a long cold winter and you don't get out much on the boat because you get so tied down with extra dock lines, power cords, tarps, etc.

I don't know what you do for a living, but I would suggest that in this economic climate that will determine where you end up with the boat. At least in my experience, it is better to locate the job first, and then figure out how you can work your boating around it.

I buy and keep updated cruising guides for where ever I am going. It makes it easy to plan your trip out and avoid stopping at a crappy marina, and then finding out the next day there was a great one a half mile farther away, as you sail by it.

Re: What Is your Favorite Source For Locating & Researching Marinas?

Having spent a summer in the carolinas on the boat, the humid heat of summer can be almost as bad as the cold up north.

We found ourselves going inside by 9am and staying there with the air/con until 7-8pm when is was only miserably hot rather than unbearably hot.

Otherwise, we did enjoy the area.
