Video of scary surge in Gibraltar marina

We're currently spending a few seasons cruising in the Med and spent the summer in the Balaerics. To avoid schengen visa issues (We're Australian) and any possible dramas with matriculation tax which can be applicable if a boat spends more than 180 days within Spain in one year we decided to winter in Gibraltar.

Gibraltar has two marinas, Ocean Village and Queensway Quay Marina which are priced very similarly. As we'd previously been in Queensway when crewing on another boat we chose it for our four month hiatus.

We're incredibly glad we did. Last month a westerly with gusts of fifty knots blew in from the Atlantic and while we were pretty comfortable in Queensway the situation at Ocean Village was very ugly with a massive swell right through the marina and plenty of damaged boats.
