Puerto Rico Marinas during hurricane season

Please share recommendations of safe harbour marinas during hurricane season in Puerto Rico. Newby to sailing so bear with me as I learn sailing terms and such.

Friends keep their boat at one that's called Puerto del Ray (think that's the name). Any others on the eastern coast of Puerto Rico that are an option? Thanks!

Nevah mind........called Marina Puerto del Rey and they cannot take a 72 ft. sailboat with a 10 ft. draft (draught?). They suggested Nanny Cay in the Virgin Islands. Passing this along with the husbands call again. Would love to meet them there as it looks very inviting!

Re: Puerto Rico Marinas during hurricane season

On the east coast of Puerto Rico up at Fajardo are marinas that take boats during the season. There is a new one just over the hill south of Fajardo called Sun Bay Marina - SunBay Marina :: Fajardo, Puerto Rico - Full Service Marina in Puerto Rico
Tel: 787-863-0313
Rates 2011 = $1.25/ft/day all inclusive

A marina ... in a hurricane ... the worst place to be ...

You tie up to a floating dock ... storm surge comes in ... floating dock floats away driven by hurricane force winds with your boat ( & others ) still tied to it .... I have seen marinas turned into boat-soup by hurricanes ...
