Planning Haul Out this Fall

Background:

I live in downtown Brooklyn. My Catalina 30 is in the NY (Brooklyn) area, Gravesend Bay. Documents say she weighs 10,500 lbs.

I don't live near my car, which is kept on eastern long Island. My boat is at Marine Basin Marina, which is okay via the D train to Bay Parkway. Problem is though, these guys have no travelift, just two repurposed old cranes. The harbormaster admitted (sheepishly) that they cannot accomodate anything that can't be hauled on a trailer behind a pickup truck. In other word there are no 5 ton sailboats on the hard.

What good Marinas can I easily get to via public transport in the NYC (Brooklyn Queens) area? By good I mean well liked. Sure I want cheap, but average price is fine if it's a good spot with easy access. I expect to be working on her this fall maybe (egads) even in the winter.

Just throwing that question out there. Thanks

What do you need to do on your Catalina 30 that can't be done in a short cheap 5 day haulout? I don't think there are planks and screws on that boat

Re: Planning haul out this fall

Err, maybe. Well lets continue with this exercise anyhow, so I can compare real costs. I need to paint and inspect the hull, but most other work would be just as easy in the water. I think keeping her afloat is less damaging frost wise.

I was dreaming of replacing through hulls, but I think I'd be a glutton for punishment to really do that.
