Need Slip / Mooring / Anchorage During Annapolis Sailboat Show

my son has decided he wants us to sail from norfolk, va. to the sailboat show in oct.....so does anyone have a suggestion on slips, moorings or anchorages...i've heard that the achorages sometimes fill up weeks in advance but because of work constraints we would not be able to arrive till either wed. or thrusday the week of the show.....by the way our boat is an irwin 30.....any help will be appreciated greatly.

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. There are lots of places to anchor "near" the show that should have room for you.

One of the best is Weems Creek. A bit out of town via water, but not a bad walk or you can walk over to the Navy-Marine Corps stadium and catch the shuttle in. There will also be a bunch of other boaters there, many of whom are working at the show. Make friends with them and you can often get a ride right to the show.

The biggest problem you are going to have is sailing from Norfolk to Annapolis especially if you get any weather. If you plan on anchoring at night, you have at least a 2-day trip each way getting up early and going until dark.
