Marina Recommendations in South Carolina

Looking for a secure and not-too-expensive marina for about a month in either Charleston or Beaufort. Any suggestions?

More info could be used - how remote can it be? What features do you need in the facility? Etc.

That said, there's a very secure facility that you might consider up the Cooper River in Charleston.

It's quite remote which adds to the security but might be a little too remote.

Charleston is expensive, nice marinas though. I found Brunswick, GA. A far better alternative, much cheaper, very secure, no current and very little marine growth.

Good luck

If you can do Myrtle Beach area, I would suggest Osprey. Excellent, friendly secure and very cheap. It is not near anything though. All depends what you are looking for.

Dennis, We spent over a year at Lady's Island Marina in Beaufort, SC and really loved it. It is well protected, close to town, not as close as the Downtown Marina, but cheaper, and lots of friendly folks. If you don't have transportation, there will always be someone willing to give you a ride. Tell Ted the dockmaster we recommended them. He will take good care of you. Downtown Marina is nice as is Port Royal, which is the closest to West marine. Beaufort is one of our favorite towns and we much prefer it to Charleston. Here is some of the local flavor, http://tinyurl.com/3xjuf4g

Thanks all for your suggestions. Need to find a marina for a month while we go back to Annapolis and work. We are heading down to the Bahamas one leg at a time. Just sailed five cold days from New Bern to Charleston.

Soiree - Hadn't thought about Brunswick, but will check it out.

Mambo - We stayed at Osprey two nights ago. Couple that runs the place are always accommodating. They remembered us from three years ago!

Chuck - Lady's Island sounds like the perfect place for us. Thanks.

Re: Marina Recommendations in SC

We found Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina at Patriots point to be a great place. We left the boat for fiver weeks while we went back north for the holidays, and have stayed here another month beyond that. very accommodating crew, good slips. While you're here you have access tot he free trolley to downtown charleston. Most any service you might need is close by on the Mt. Pleasant side of the Cooper Ricer

Re: Marina Recommendations in SC

My old stomping grounds were in Beaufort SC. I recommend Lady's Island Marina on Factory Creek. It is 5 minutes walk from grocery shopping, and "downtown", with its beautiful park waterfront, restaurants, and Pre Civil War homes, are across the little bridge, about a 20 minutes walk away. It is a delightful little town!

Great New Marina in Brunswick, GA Try Hidden Harbor Yacht Club. It has the best rate in town, secure with resident managers and remote quiet location with lots of nature. ICW marker 238 Troupe Creek 912-261-1049 for more info.
