Marina Madness - Regatta Pointe

I am incredulous. Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto, Florida has done something never heard of before.

They changed out all the staff and put in people who have absolutely NO boating or marina experience AT ALL. None, nada, zip. Don't know the bow from the stern, cleat from a piling.

Things do not look good here.

Still Mad

This marina has more problems now than it ever did. If you wish to come to the Manatee River, please go to Twin Dolphin and save yourself many headaches and heartaches. If you are a power boater, Riviera Dunes is a beautiful new marina, and highly recommended. (Sailors can't get under the bridge.)

Liveaboards are no longer being made welcome at Regatta Pointe. The manager has been quoted as saying:

"the liveaboards can all leave as far as I am concerned, I have plenty of powerboaters to fill this place up".

Sad things happening here.

They no longer will allow the anchored boats in the river to pay for or utilize marina services.

First she tried to demand that all anchored boats pay $150 a month or LEAVE THE RIVER! She didn't know any better. I guess once she found out, she decided to just ban all services to anchored boats.

Talk about cutting off your nose.

In any event, the river is not a nice place now and the marina is getting worse.
