Does Anyone In This Forum Familar With Marina Del Ray?

Dear forum,

I was wondering, if there is anyone here on the forum familar with Marina Del Ray?

I was thinking of using that marina as my homeport!

Also, does Marina Del Ray have lots inwhich a person can finish or maybe build a boat at any lot there.

I know they have launching facilities. But, that's all I know.

And if there are anyone tied up there now. How much are they asking per month?

Any suggestions would be appriciated.

very hard to get a space. they were rebuilding piers and slips making a tough deal pretty much impossible. can't get a slip even if you buy a boat. regs are strange. county control but at del ray, left up to individual piers. forget liveaboard - quotas and long waiting list. there are some haul out and store spots that allow you to work on your own boat. long beach is a better shot but no room to work on boat. rates aren't bad if you can get in. there are commercial / shipping area marinas where you could find a better deal, but not attractive. capt. lar

Marina del Rey is the largest man-made small craft harbor in the world, with 5,246 boat slips.
Owned by the County of Los Angeles, boat slips are leased and operated by a number of different companies, including local hotels, yacht clubs, and apartment owners. There is no master listing of slip vacancies in the Marina. For boat slip vacancy and leasing info, ask for the Dockmaster at each marina. A “dockmaster” is in charge of managing, pricing and leasing in their respective marinas.

They do have Dry Storage; but I believe that serious Boat Building wouldn’t be permitted.
