Antigua Boatyards

We are considering hauling in Antigua next summer. I am seeking advice from contributors who have had experience laying-up their boat in Antigua for the summer (June - Nov). What went well or not so well - your recommendations appreciated. Would also consider other leeward locations. My apologies if this has already been discussed but was unable to find through searches. Thanks.

Friends of ours sailing the sistership to our boat, Ocean Angel, have been leaving theirs at Jolly Harbor for the last two seasons and have nothing but good things to say about the place. You can learn a little more about Ocean Angel and Antigua at "Sailing with Ocean Angel".

FWIW...

Re: Antigua Boatyards

Welcome to CF....

Antigua is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the hurricane zone. Is there a reason you want to lay up there? Although some people do, its definitely not a common place to lay a boat over the hurricane season.

Why not take a 3 day sail down to Grenada and lay her up there. Although its still on the edge of the hurricane zone, the statistics are much better. The boat yards in Grenada are very secure and all offer chained cradles and tie downs. Not to mention the boat yards in Grenada are probably much cheaper.

If you need to lay up in Antigua, then I have also heard good things about Jolly Harbor Marina, but have no direct experience.
