Affordable slip or mooring in Miami

I plan taking my Morgan 462 south toward the end of June. Having a "day job" will necessitate leaving the boat in the Miami area for about 15 days until next vacation break. Any suggestions? Thanks to those gone before me!

I stayed on a mooring at Crandon Park a few years ago for over week waiting out a cold front. They had bathrooms, but no showers when I was there. The restaurant was very expensive, but the moorings were cheap which is all you need. The bus to downtown Miami stopped right in front.

Either Crandon or Dinner Key. The moorings are your least expensive but the boat will be more secure in a slip.

Pelican Harbor is another good spot. The most reasonable marinas in Miami are the municipal ones. If I remember right Pelican Harbor is north of the Julia Tuttle bridge which has a low clearance, about 55 feet ( I think). Crandon's quite nice but a little bit pricey, about $1000 a month for transients. A mooring might be better if you don't need electricity.

We're home-based out of Dinner Key and for a City-run marina it's pretty good. They have pump-out stations, electricity, and water at every slip. No bugs! Pretty quiet, near a lot of restaurants and supermarkets in Coconut Grove (within easy walking distance). They also have laundry facilities and showers. A fuel dock, while not at the marina itself, is pretty close by. People are very friendly and their are lots of slips available.

Also, it's pretty easy to get to downtown Miami and the metro-rail is about a mile from the marina itself. Unfortunately, I don't know about busses, except that they don't run through the Marina itself. However, we're quite happy with what they provide and what they charge. Recommend you give them a call.

Best of Luck!
