New Mobile browsing option | Mobile skin

We have a new browsing option to view the site while on mobile devices.

As you know the forum has a mobile app that you can download and use for mobile browsing but we now have a second option as well, with no download needed. You can select or unselect this view at anytime.

When you navigate to the site on a mobile device you should see the new mobile skin (unless you are using the mobile app). If you don't have the app loaded on your device you will receive the prompt to download it - you can just dismiss the prompt and continue on to the mobile skin.

If you want to see the full site instead, you can scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and there is a link to return to the full site view. The mobile skin is a great option for a small screen and designed to be fast and light. Not every feature of the full site is supported but for daily browsing and posting it should be awesome.

If you are browsing on a large tablet you may not see the mobile skin automatically but again can scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the mobile skin from the style chooser option box (lower left).

How timely - I clicked a refresh on my laptop a while ago and got a new interface - blues and bolds.

I was going to post a query but I guess in the roll over my preference was reset to V1.0...

Back to 2.0 for me...

Same here. All of a sudden the page looked different and the screen would not display in a wide format. Rebooted PC but no good. After seeing this subject I found the link and selected Cruisers Forum V2.0 and all is fine.

But how many will not see this thread and be frustrated with the format? Surely most users are PC based and would prefer the non mobile view as default?

Ditto. I was wondering if I needed to see the eye doctor, then I accidentally found out about the versions change on Forum Announcements. Not all change is good.

Thanks for the heads-up! Mine defaulted to the mobile view today, too. Not good at all on a laptop. Thank you for explaining how to fix it.

I agree with the suggestion of setting the default back to V2.

I haven't tried it on a mobile device, but I can't help but wonder how forcing a fixed width, and adding tons of extra lines of what amount to advertisements at the bottom, makes it better for mobile viewing. In all fairness, I'll leave it to the mobile users to take up that question.

Janet (or anyone) I haven't tried the new skins on my mobile (tablet) - Does the preference for a person tie to their username/profile only or is it smart enough to remember V2.0 for my PC (MACid) and Mobile for my tablet (MACid)

auto-loaded this session. only issue I have is the inability to expand text/page to more easily read size.

Just curious...

The mobile view should only auto load on small-ish devices. On all others you would have to opt in. Once you have selected a view it should load that way moving forward (until you change again).
