An iPhone & iPad app are in development and should be available for FREE in a few weeks. The firm who is developing it is also planning to build an app for Android and BBerry but I don't have an ETA on those.

Haha that wasnt a banner splash!! People were trying to count the ships in the current banner and arguments started, so people started zooming into the banner to see the smaller boats and see if they are mono or cats, I just zoomed in a bit clearer

In '56, coral was all the rage:

Thanks for making the default text color black again: yesterday, it was turqouise-esque and hard to see.

Psychology counts: See the deep, wonderful blue of the water and the sky in the banner? How does that make you feel? Wonderful, right? Now how does this pastel make you feel? Queasy.

All you mods are really appreciated, and I'll still be around, but his is ain't blue, and it needs to be an oceany shade of blue.
Yep.

I like the way it goes to the unread posts on a thread but still can't get used to the look. The former set up had a cleaner look or maybe I can't get used to change. I've seen other sites with this skin and didn't like them either.

I am having problems when I click on a thread. Sometimes it goes to the first page, sometimes it goes to the middle of the thread and sometimes to the end. Very frustrating. When something isn't broke, don't fix it. I also want to see boat names of posters again.

Another problem I just ran across is my thread archives only goes back to Jan. 9, 2010.

1) Changing the outer clothing does nothing to change the inner body.

2) This forum is for Cruisers (ie folks who want to be outside sailing), not geeks who will spend a couple of days finding their way around the new look

Unless there are distinct technical improvements that will assist the user (and I haven't seen any), this change will have been a waste of time, effort and your money.

Sorry, but that's how I feel.

As a self confessed geek, I partly agree to this comment apart from one thing, I've taken a look at the code and it has been strealined to help with a faster load, people on Broadband connections wont really notice the difference as much but its still there.

As for the colours, if you Google "HCI in web design" and it will give you some good results for picking a colour scheme to use. Look out for Jacob Nielson (sp?) he is the guide that my Universit used as he seems to know his stuff.

OK I'm sick of this, why when I click on a thread I have never read before, it doesn't take me to the top of the first page?

Are you clicking on the name of the thread? Or on the arrow to the right of the thread (next to my name)?

I just went up to the side bar of recent discussions, and clicked on the title Open CPN version. It took me to post #29.
