Cruisers Forum SPAM

Happy New Year folks.

December was a busy month for your dedicated team of CF Spammer Hunters. Without a doubt the amount of bogus accounts created on CF to support SPAM activities increased probably 5 fold last month. Here's a few basic stats.

New registered users this month: 462
Identified as possible SPAMmers: 226

Your top Spammer Killer was S/V Elusive with 126 followed by yours truly with 73 and Wheels with 27. Honorable mention goes to Delmarrey with a .5 for having correctly identified a bogus account.

Your Admin & Moderator team goes to great lengths to keep your CF free of SPAM. Occasionally 1 or 2 get through but don't usually last too long. Rest assured your Admin's & Mod's will continue to work diligently in the background to keep your discussions free of SPAM! Good luck to everybody in the new year.

Rick

Yes, absolutely, thanks. This is the greatest forum I've ever used because of the "watchers."

Couple of years ago I almost put together a flying squad of computer geeks who were willing to track down spam sources and then actually fly in and burn them out with firebombs.

The thing is, superheros need costumes and no one could agree if we should wear leather (too old school, and hot) or spandex (too revealing). And so, the whole project ground to a halt.

Leather or spandex...leather or spandex...decisions, decisions....

Did you consider a spandex and leather outfit.....that would have solved the problem.....eewwwweeee...leaves a nasty mental image, though

I wonder if the other sailing sites do as much as you guys do in regards to spammers. Thanks for your vigilance and hard work.
