Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

OP stated drone flew away when he threw a bottle at it and it hasn't been back, about 50 posts or so ago, so no, it's all been entertainment since then, if not before.

As you no doubt know old aircraft are made new again with the installation of new avionics. Not that they were more than a few years old at the time.
Don't know if they were actively jamming at the time, but wouldn't be surprised. France has it's own rules.
The video goes black, drone drops like a rock, mirages fly over, video resumes with a worms eye view.

Get your own drone and follow the other one back to it's base.

Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

This post has absolutely zero value so if you are looking for that - go on to the next post or thread. But you may not get any luckier with that.

Having said that, this is a hilarious thread. I totally understand the OP's issue though and would have the same issues and thoughts.

Factoid: in my little US town the following are illegal to shoot within the city limits -
potato guns
BB or pellet guns of any sort
guns, rifles, shotguns
fireworks
noxious gasses, e.g. farts (not really lol)
bows and arrows
essentially any projectile
So anti-drone capability is seriously limited.

But - it seems to me that there is a hidden and undeveloped market here for anti-drone warfare at the drone versus drone level. Of course there are ship to drone and ground to drone ordinance markets. But what fun it would be to carry anti-drone missiles on your own drone. Perhaps radar guided. Or you could drag cables along on your drone and go over the target drone. Or the electronic counter measures like the ground to drone one in the video.

This would mean that drones would have to get bigger of course. I am not aware of any prohibition on that so long as they (in the US) fly below 400' and within sight of the operator. Binoculars can extend that range quite a bit. But little anti-missile capability is entirely within the design and fabrication capabilities of all the engineers and machinists on this forum. You design and build it and I'll hep market it. Then I'll finally be able to afford that new Tayana 48 I've been eyeing (with a drone landing and take-off pad built in on the arch of course).

There is virtually no technical or legal risk to jetting a stream of water over quite a distance, such as you might use for chasing seagulls off your spreaders or rinsing their droppings off rig and sails.

Unless it is intentional, and damages the drone, in which case (at least in my jurisdiction) it is a misdemenor or felony criminal mischief (depending on value of the drone).

You really can't damage personal property of other people intentionally and not expose yourself to potential criminal charges.

Answer: stealth drone to shoot down the offending drone. What they don't know can't hurt you. May the Drone Wars begin!
