And #145 is still a destroy the drone option. Just because it is hurling radio waves and not physical objects, doesn't mean it isn't an aggressive countermeasure.
Well, you see, it would be if he had actually implemented it. He in essence said he would do it if...........

To me, that is not the same thing as saying "I went out and bought 'x' brand jammer and will use it tomorrow," or if he came back tomorrow and said , "I bought 'x's brand jammer, used it, and this is what happened."

For evaluating behavior, I tend to look more at actions, and less at statements of intent.

"Maybe you are a person who likes starting arguments."

Not so, actually, but I do call situations as I see them. I am definitely not infallible, but my judgement isn't too bad. It is not uncommon for me to comment on processes.

Hi, I doubt if you would be breaking the law, it is an 'Invasion of privacy' infringement and I doubt the owner would persue you on the issue. If you object to a shotgun, use a lead wieght on a length of strong twine or anything else to bring it down.

True but the shotgun, wrist rocket, net, fishing pole, find the guy and beat him to a pulp, etc.... ideas are all just talk also but they are all espousing the idea of using violence to destroy the problem. A jammer is just a high tech method.

Again, the main point I was making was:

I find it hard to believe that in an anchorage with multiple boats, he is being singled out for no reason.

If greaseproof paper is greaseproof, why do chips stick to it?

We have some, I don't know if any other country has any uncontrolled airspace, or at least uncontrolled flight.
I hope these drone peckerheads don't screw it up for regular planes. If you need to have all the airspace controlled to control the drones, that means everybody else gets screwed too.
Canada. We've got more uncontrolled airspace than you do. And lots of private & RC a/c too.

Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

Plastics and rechargeable batteries should be responsibly disposed of, not dumped in the water.

FFS, follow the drone home and confront the operator if you want it to stop. Probably a bored twelve year old who is unaware he is even bothering you. Some people have no empathy skills and need to be educated.

What the hell kind of sailor would be so incapable of something like tracking and locating a drone operator anyway? Likely he is within line of sight. Don't you own a pair of long-eyes? Maybe should check out the binocular thread.

Yes, I have been buzzed once by a drone while out kayaking. I found it to be surprisingly offensive. Wouldn't want to have your daily experience and so would have done something about it already. I'd have asked the guy to stop and this thread would be old news.

Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

Nah, it's settled.

The operator got a message that I was displeased with the surveillance when I flipped it off, filmed it and threw a bottle at it.

Next step in any escalation is a silent but deadly one...the jammer.

You can't follow it home folks. It lives behind trees somewhere.

And yes, Dorklancey... I have no idea how to sail. Definitely. No experience or credentials. Never made a passage in my life. Just stuck in one place here in NY. Oh wait... no...that's you.

Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

I think you handled it correctly.

A big "F#@& Off, Drone" sign, hand gestures in support of this, and escalation if it doesn't take the hint.

High pressure waterjet, if it's close enough.

Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

As the subject boat has been described as a "head turner" that is often admired, perhaps the drones frequent visits are nothing more than admiring looks.

I have never seen a photo of the cat posted. How about posting some photos in this thread so we can all see what is obviously getting the drones attention.

If nothing else, it may help us identify the cat if shown in some videos posted by the drone owner.

Re: What Can We Do About Drones?!?

I'd be surprised if the jammer worked, the one that was linked to I didn't see anything that transmitted at 2.4 Ghz.
I also doubt that it is sophisticated enough to fly home on its own, I believe that is beyond the average hobby "drone"?
