uscga captain's licence

I'm trying to renew/up date my captains licence (use to be called a 6 pack). The licence was issued in the Virgin Islands back in or around 1983. Is there any agency that maintains records that far back . I don't have a copy of the licence anymore.
thanks

That licensed needs to be renewed every five years. If you have let it lapse you will need to apply all over again.

Well, actually, I think there is a one year grace period after expiration. Nevertheless, tofuman will definitely have to start again.

You will need to start from scratch. All your old records are irrelevant to getting your new license. You will also need to document your sea time within the past five years. There is a one year grace period from the date of expiration. Although on your date of expiration your license becomes unusable until you do renew it.

Ok, well its back to the drawing board. I guess I could use the review after 25+ years.
Thanks for the info.
