Re: USCG Documentation Issues

Sign up for the auto renewal. This is new and will save a bit of trouble in the future. If you let it lapse, it will cost another $84.00 to renew. Much cheaper to auto renew the $5.00 per year.

Call 'em. They answer the phone and are helpful. We renewed all by email and it was done quickly. I think you need a reason to get expedited treatment. When we explained that the Honduran authorities were holding us up, they shuffled us right to the front of the line. Were very helpful in getting to us what the Honduran PC wanted.

Why not use a Documentation Service? Probably would save time and money in the long run. Let them deal with the bureaucracy.

Re: USCG Documentation Issues

Our documentation service handles our renewals for both our USCG documentation and our EPIRB.

Re: USCG Documentation Issues

The priority handling worked great for me. Documentation was hung up for months this spring but they processed it the next day once the priority criteria deal was accepted.

Based on conversations with them, they cycle through endorsements, only doing recreational every so often in an allotted timeframe. If there is a backlog of requests they may not even get to yours in a given cycle, thus why it can sometimes take months and months, or if you're timing works out, only a week or two.

The "doc service" is also our mail service, shipping service and residency. It costs ~$100/yr.

My point was that documentation services CAN do documentation renewals, along with other legal services that usually require a signature, etc.
