US 50/100 Ton Master and ICC

Now that RYA can issue ICC to non UK sailors I am wondering if anyone has used their US 50 or 100 ton masters license to meet the ICC competency requirements?

Will the RYC accept this?

You have to prove your competence and they will consider any previous tickets.

Just remember there are 6 categories of ICC. Usually if you have a power only competency ticket you will only receive a power endorsed ICC. If you have a sail one, that is orientated at yachts with engines, you will get a Sail and Power endorsed ICC

Irrespective if you need European inland waters. You will need to sit the CEVNI exam and get that endorsed onto your ICC

Sadly I've answered my own question . I posed the questionn to RYA and the answer is no...

Dear Ethan I have received a reply from Richard Falk the RYA Training Manager and Chief Examiner and unfortunately, we are unable to accept your US 50 tonnes masters license for the issue of an ICC. The RYA can only issue ICC's based on equivalency of UK issued qualifications. Therefore, you will be required to undertake a direct assessment with an RYA Recognised Training Centre.
