Requirements for Chartering

I am getting close to purchase the boat and living aboard for good.
What are the requirements in order to charter our boat in the US. Beside the license requirement what are the regulations for the boat. My main concern is this: can you charter a boat that was not built in the us? I have heard that it's not possible, you need a US built boat.
The boat is not US built and it has a French flag. If I pay the taxes and obviously have all the required safety equipment on board can I charter it?

Thank you all

Re: Requirements for chartering

It doesn't matter where the boat was built. What does matter is what your charter company wants . You will also need it to pass USCG inspection, but that is not hard.

Re: Requirements for Chartering

First off, are talking about putting your boat into a bareboat charter operation or are you wanting to do "crewed charters" where you are onboard?
- - For bareboat charter operation the outfit/agency that will be booking and supervising the bareboat charters will be able to give you all the details of what you and your boat needs.
- - If you want to run crewed charters on your boat then there is a whole book full of requirements ranging from you having licenses, inspections and insurance to tax reporting requirements.
