Reptile Pets and International Travel

I've found a lot of information in regards to sailing with cats or dogs internationally but can't find anything in regards to sailing with a reptile as a pet (lizard or tortoise). Does anyone have any experience with this?

Check with a herpetologist at your local zoo. They're always receiving and sending animals internationally.

I would do a country specific search for where you care to visit. you will most likely have to have an OCVI certificate(Veterinary Inspection). I would also look into whether you can return to the states with said pet, as there are restrictions as to what you can legally bring into the US. A local veterinarian where you are at might be able to help with this info as well.

Re: Reptile Pets and International Travel

we saw the "doglovers" on cruising boats from overseas: the poor dog was boatbound for the whole summer (duration of the stay of the boat in NZ) & was halfmad, going berserk at every dingi that passed by...
(& it's not that the owners did not know in advamce...)
