Registration Advice For Europeans

We are in process of buying a 26 years old sailing yacht in America and prefer not to register this yacht in Europe; any advise ?

We are European passport holders and like to keep the boat in the Carib area over the next years

We heard that ' Delaware' is not so safe or appreciated by some island customs officials in Carib area.

Please advise what is smart to do.

There are past threads dealing with exactly this situation. In brief, Assuming you are not a USA citizen, you might look at documenting the boat in the British Virgin Islands if you are British or maybe St Martin or another Caribbean island friendly to your home country.

Guadeloupe is a "Department" of France while St. Martin, St Barts, Martinique are "Overseas" Islands. You might be able to get it done in French St. Martin which is closer to Guatemala than Guadeloupe.
