What bank are you using? I have accounts in two different banks, one for business and a local credit union for personal. Neither have such restrictions for notary services. Even without this, I've gone to banks where I had no account and they would notarize a document for a small fee, usually a couple of dollars.

Re: Registering a boat in the US

Hi guys quick update on the topic.

I finally received the evidence of deletion from the Cost Guard. I am ready to go now for the registration.

One more question. The bill of sales (notarized) does not have a $ amount. I bought the boat 10k. Is it important to fill it?

My worry is obviously from insurance purpose. My boat is cover from an amount of 10k, the sales price. I don't want to have any issues. Same for the state of Florida, if i don't put any price what are going to be their estimate?

C.

" My boat is cover from an amount of 10k, the sales price. "
1-If the bill of sale does not specify the sale price, it may not be acceptable as a bill of sale. That could be "One dollar plus other goods and services" but it still normally is specified.
2-Your insurer probably will not accept a value if there is no stated value and no accepted appraisal.
3-The registration folks, when they collect sales tax, have the right to look up the book value of the boat and charge you tax and registration based on THAT, if you can't substantiate another value.

It could get worse from there.

Or, Floridia might not care, they might call it a gift.

I am not going to count too much on that

Will complete with the 10k I payed. I don't want to take any risk. During the survey the boat has been evaluated at a higher price that what I payed so....

Thx

Going tomorrow afternoon.
