Permission to operate boat letter

I will be allowing a friend to operate my boat without my presence on Chesapeake Bay and in Caribbean. I want to make sure he does not run afoul of any agencies, USCG, customs etc.
Is there a form letter commonly in use?

Google is your friend for standard contract forms.

It isn't that complicated. Letter of authority providing captains name, voyage details like ports and duration expected.

Specific authorization re what skipper is empowered to do - safety/maintaineace=act on owner behalf. Obviously not for sale. Make copies - notarized on bond paper if you're sailing to certain parts where official looking documents carry more weight than common sense.

Yup. Google Power of Attorney and you will find ready made forms. Fill in details and have it notarized.
