Perfect example of Eddy's Theory of Legislation, which states...

"Legislation can only be written by those who know absolutely nothing about the topic."

Just another reason I don't spend my winters in Minnesota and prefer going farther south!!!

I think they should regulate mosquitoes. Some years when I go to Minnesota there are so many that the Achilles becomes overloaded. I just let them take a bite and they fly off lightening the load. There should be a law to regulate the mosquitoes.

It's just easy money!!! Little to do with safety.

Just like Puget Sound's NDZ law...
Sorry for the rant and thread drift, I couldn't help it.

In this particular case, the law predates the existence of substantial numbers of powered inflatable boats.

But I'll bet you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet in Minnesota.

I guess it would be better if we sit on the seat with our back towards the bow while running the outboard. Seems sensible. Maybe we should make another statute that requires mirrors on the outboard in order for the driver to see forward.

Why not have a strap that attaches across to the other side, and snaps onto your life vest, so it is impossible to fall off. A few extra seconds to attach it, and passengers may trip over it, but its all for show anyways, whether people really care about safety is a personal thing, and then when they are drowning they think.. maybe I should have attached that strap.

Thank god the government is there to regulate me every step of the way for my safety, otherwise I might get a booboo. Now, where did I put my bathing/shower helmet?
