Miami Beach eliminates shore access by dinghy
Signs were put up all along the sea walls, and the town dock has a 20 minute limit. Any suggestions on how to fight this?

Where in Miami Beach? Any of these signs along the Collins Canal?

Yes most of the boats that I know of that were towed away were from the Collins canal. And seatow charged $300 to get them back. Edit: boats were "towed" from all over the area

Right on, Zee! Lets vote with our feet, err paddles...maybe sails? We can find friendlier shores.

Fine. We'll just cross it off our list of places to visit. Bye bye Miami. No money for you...

Re: Miami Beach eliminates shore access by dinghy
I just sent an email to Mayor Levine of Miami Beach making him aware of the issue. I urge you to do the same. Be sure to emphasize how much money you spend while visiting Miami Beach. Mayor & Commissioner Home
Be nice! Anger won't help, reason will.
It might be worth while to write to Publix and let them know what's going on. I know you guys shop there because they are so close to the canal and dinghy dock.
Don't forget that the City of Miami provides a dinghy dock in Dinner Key.
Oh yeah, Hopkins-Carter has a dinghy dock as well.

If you haven't figured it out, every urban area is taking control of everything in order to tax it. Sailors are just getting caught in the tax fire!
We are heading into some very dark times.

Folks lets remember this is the City of Miami ** Beach** not the City of **Miami.**
Take your money north or south of Miami Beach - they obviously don't want it. I would stop in the Ft. Lauderdale area and by-bass Miami Beach rather than give them any $$, or their merchants either. That's the only thing they understand. Just another government out of control IMHO.

Re: Miami Beach eliminates shore access by dinghy
Should have done this before I replied. I checked the sign which has the State Statute reference allowing towing. This law only allows towing from Private Property, not public property.

Re: Miami Beach eliminates shore access by dinghy
Whoa! Let's not throw out the baby with the bath water! Our marina, just as an example (Dinner Key Marina in Coral Gables - MIAMI CITY OWNED) allows live-aboards and pets and could not be a more wonderful place or convenient spot to come ashore and shop or dine. As mentioned above there is a dinghy dock.

Re: Miami Beach eliminates shore access by dinghy
Seeing that Seatow is a party to this I would not buy Seatow towing insurance. If you have Seatow write them and say you're not going to re-new. TowBoatUS provides an excellent service.
