Re: Maldives?

Great question!!
I'm guessing a good attitude and a little cash can go a long way?
But I believe you need a invite to the islands.
Scuba diving is big there maybe a good entrance purpose.

Re: Maldives?

In 2002 I had to pay $220 USD in Male to an agent. Authorities will not deal with you directly. I got off cheap, since recent posters in other threads are reporting payments to the agents of over $1,000.

Unless things have changed, best to check into Addu, the island chain's southern most Island.

Male itself is nothing to write home about, and recent political infighting may be cause for concern. There was a recent decision allowing foreigners to buy property in the Maldives which may have its downside too. Hotels and resorts on the motus have control over the surrounding water and may not let you anchor...

Beauty abounds though throughout the Maldive chain.
