Leaving and returning to a country?

The law in St. Maarten says that you cannot stay for more than 3 months "uninterrupted". So if you were to leave for a few days and then return, would your 3 months reset? What is the general rule of thumb for Caribbean nations on this? Is this possible in any of them? I have looked at noonsite and done a lot of research but have not been able to find any information on this specific topic. Thanks!

That worked for me. You need to actually clear into another country and get your passport stamped, stay a few days, then clear out and present your outbound clearance papers to when you clear back in to St Maarten.

Re: Leaving and returning to a country?

Generally yes, most countries you leave and return and start over. Most have minimum durations for the time you must be gone, but the enforcement of that varies. Here in Panama its 72 hours.

We are about to make a visa run out of Panama to Costa Rica. Conveniently, there is a very pleasant Italian immigrant town called San Vito just across the border. Go spend a nice long weekend there, eat some good Italian food, and get a new visa on return to Panama.
