Keeping boat in Brazil

Does anyone have latest info on Brazil's rules for keeping a boat?

I might be moving to Brazil next year for work and would want to sail there in my boat from France and keep her berthed somewhere.

I have read rather confusing answers on various sites about the limit for foreign boats staying tax free in Brazil -- either six months or two years. Whichever of these is correct, the rule in any case refers to people who have come on tourist visas, which themselves have only a six month limit.

However I would be there permanently on a resident/work visa, which may make things better or worse.

If there's anyone with the facts, or who knows someone I could ask, I'd be extremely grateful!

thanks, Sebastian
