Is it ok to bring a machete aboard?

So true, at recess we would all go out and play mumblypeg with our jack knives or in some cases, hunting knives.

I grew up in rural Mississippi. In deer and duck season, we would go hunting in the morning before school, and drive straight to school, and then head back out to the fields, straight from school. There would always be dozens of trucks with rifles and shotguns in the back window racks. And, nobody massacred anybody.

Our society has changed a lot since then, and in most ways, not for the better. But, we're here now and there is no putting the crazy genie back in the bottle.

Well said, Canibul. Unfortunately, there is a rampant trend in "civilized" countries around the world to punish the "many" based upon the actions of the "few". There is no logic or reason for the argument, simply the desire by those in power to panic the herd by fear into submission and compliance for their own good. In the end, it's probably what the herd wanted all along since when they follow the dictates of their leaders . . . they no longer have to think. Good luck and good sailing.

Ok, so I enjoy the freedom of not having to worry if any one of the thousands of people I am near each day (in Australia) is carrying a knife.

I believe that freedom from fear is a right too.

Each of us has a different idea of freedom.
