Insurance Companies

Hi, I am in the process of buying a yacht and have gotten several quotes on insurance here in Australia, and the best price seems to come from a new company in Australia that has operated over seas for a fair while called PANTAENIUS. Has any one had any experience with this insurance company? Any other recommended companies would be appreciated, thanks

Re: Insurance Companies

Not heard of them sorry, but I was wondering if you could throw over a rough idea of your quote?

Re: Insurance Companies

No actual experience but they are considered the best around.

Ran into someone recently that used them and highly recommended them. Said they were very good to work with on claims.

Re: Insurance Companies

That's good to hear. On $195,000 coverage cost $1550 with $2200 excess

Re: Insurance Companies

I have Pantaenius coverage on our boat... Which was the cheapest of five bids from other companies.

More importantly I know of three other boats who were struck by lightening while we were spending last rainy season in Panama.

Pantaenius was very quick in resolving the claims, including sending Surveyors from the US within 4 days of the strikes.

The three boats were all very happy with the claims process.

Re: Insurance Companies

Pantaenius is not actually an insurance company. They are Managing General Agents for a number of insurance companies. They have offices in UK, Germany, US and now in Australia. The policies vary from country to country, from one of the best from the US office, to not nearly as good from the European offices.

We represent all of them, and can say that their claim service has been fine over the years.

Panteanius Rock... use them myself for full (if the boats worth it) cover and liability only.. friendly, fast and efficient..
Also recommend them to new owner clients..

Re: Insurance Companies

I just got a policy from them and they are saving me over $500us/yr over my old company. Also have better coverage and better geographic area. My old company would not insure outside US.

Re: Insurance Companies

maybe they only insure 100k + boats? When I saw a special program for Swan owners I felt a little awkward

Re: Insurance Companies

No, that's not true. My boat is worth about quarter of that and they were happy to insure it. Reasonable price too

HI Jared,

That's funny to hear... I was recently soliciting quotes just to generate an estimate for budgeting and they were one of the few companies who responded to my information-lacking request

If you want to try, they guy who responded was Juan from Pantaenius. Send me a PM if you want his email.

No comments on actual service, but it was a very professional reply.

Andy
