I Passed My VHF Exam . . .

Ok, I know that for most of you passing was probably no big deal, but I had to study for it using both the RYA and the Swedish handbooks for reference as I am really crap at Swedish.

When I sat the exam I was suffering from a bad cold and feeling really crap. In the exam there was much more Swedish local rules and procedures than I expected and to top things off the examiner forgot to bring the English exam paper so I had to do it in Swedish.

Within 10 minutes I was ready concede defeat and use the exam as a practice and a guide to what to study for the next time.

In the end I stuck it out and completed it. There were a couple of questions I got wrong simply because I misunderstood the Swedish, but somehow I got enough right to pass.

The examiner was kind enough to let me skip the "please translate to Swedish the meaning of..." question

It was one of the most stressful 90 minutes of my life and I am glad to get that over and done with
