Thumbs up Florida Live-aboard

Lived on board in the Florida Keys for 10 years with a Documented vessel with also Maryland registration with no hassles. We did cruise in and out of the state on a regular basis with no problems. There are anchoring restrictions in certain areas, but those are not good live-aboard areas anyway. Chuck

You did what I hope to do. I'm just cruising, leave me alone! We will be in and out all the time but if we happen to stay for 95 days I don't want to be bothered about it.

You know, it's really not that much money. If you think it's something that's going to be the slightest concern, just shell out the hundred bucks or so and forget about it. Considering what you get for your money (free place to live for a year) it's a pretty good bargin. You don't have to pay sales tax, just the registration fee for your boat and your dingy. Sales tax applies if you buy your boat and THEN move it to Florida within (I think) 90 days, or if you buy a boat in Florida and don't move it out in (I think) 90 days.

But if you're going to get a knot in your stomach every time you see a DNR boat, it's not worth it, just register the thing.

On the long list of things boat-related things I throw money at, this wouldn't even be on the radar.
