DR (Luperon) arrival requirements?

We are in the Southern Bahamas and considering going non stop to Luperon.

The Bahamian Customs and Immigration say they don't do exit clearances and it's the Easter weekend

I read that the DR requires an exit clearance from previous port.

1) Is this true

2) Is there a work around procedure?

They don't typically do exit papers but when I knew I needed one for Jamaica I asked for and received one. Sorry can't help with DR requirements but a bump if nothing else.
