Documentation of a New Boat Being Delivered

A friend of mine asked me to deliver his brand new power yacht from the UK to Kaliningrad, Russia (in the Eastern Baltic between Poland and Lithuania).

I would have loved to do it but I have no time - I have my own summer cruise coming up. But I fixed him up with a crew and they are now getting ready to leave.

He asked me a question I couldn't answer -- what kind of registration is required for the delivery trip?

I presume none -- the original invoice and delivery documents, and he pays customs duty and VAT and registers the boat when he gets to Russia. Isn't this right?

And what flag do you fly? Would you fly your own flag - the state in which you intend to register it?

Any insights would be welcome.
