Re: Do NOT let your cruising permit expire in the Bahamas

Our last entry into the Bahamas (December 2017) was through Bimini, where we received a 3 month permit.

As our permit come up on its expiration date, we stopped by the office in Marsh Harbor. Renewal was quick and easy--once we found the right office.

Re: Do NOT let your cruising permit expire in the Bahamas

Could everyone indulge me and let me piggyback onto this thread (all of which I enjoyed). I wanted to open a new one but can't figure out how.
Anyway, many of you will have known Wayne and Dolly at the Belle Hatchie in LaBelle. They're both now sadly gone. After Dolly died I drove down from St Pete just to give Wayne a hug. Could see he was badly beaten up and not really going to come back from the loss. I think he and Dolly and that wonderful junk yard they ran deserve some kind of requiem; a set of tall, salty tales perhaps centered around the Belle Hatchie.
Anyone got any great yarns, personal recollections? And how DO we get it into a new thread?

Maybe it’s just not enforced?
Certainly, as the dozens of times we've gone, we've never mailed or surrendered ours and have never been questioned on re-entry...

A number of PDF forms available online. It's 5:45 EST, It seems you can find the info you need.

Thanks, OP.
Here's a link from a fellow cruiser:
It has been asked on the morning net a few days ago... here's the link for Bahamas Pet permit service... https://www.bahamaspetpermit.com

We've got our permit in 7 days... no fedex, or money order or fax back... Wellington is very responsive and time efficient... We are happy with the service we've got

Really do not understand why you are so fussy about permits, temporary import and so on, if in your country for i cannot stay more than 3 months in florida if my boat is for example from Delaware.

Could be worse...In the USVI they will steal the boat register it under their name and send you the bill.

So glad I paid cash, for a wreck. Lemme see, 7.5% of $10,000; looks like it'll hurt but not mortally wounded.
Thanks for the warning though. I'll try to be more attentive.

Re: Do NOT let your cruising permit expire in the Bahamas

I have a similar situation coming up. Mine expires Dec 28, and I live in San DIego, long way to travel just for a renewal. Wonder if my Marsh Harbor Yard or other individual can renew for me?
